How did air-source heat pump with heating & cooling catch up and be widely accepted by consumers?

Central air conditioning is derived from refrigeration demand, initially as single-cooling function, later began to have heating function. However, the main direction is cooling, the unit in the low temperature has poor performance. In most cases, the central air-conditioning unit works with electric heating in winder, the energy consumption is larger in heating mode.The heating testing standard is 7°C, working temperature range is over 0°C.
